I'm telling ya, Goodwill is a poor girl's best friend. I haven't shown you what treasures I've been finding lately. I'll post that soon. But in the mean time. This little fella hanging from my ceiling had been begging me to take it home for a couple weeks before I finally gave in. I was hesitant because I had no idea what to do with it, but I had a feeling I could make it into something cool. Little did I know it would be the smartest $4 I've ever spent.
When I woke up this morning, I had visions of how today would go. I would head over to Kris' house. We would whistle and sing while we put together the closet real quick. There would obviously be roses and rainbows and sunshine and unicorns because the hard part was already over, right? It could only take an hour or two tops, right? I mean how difficult is it to put together a pre-designed closet organizer?
Kris and I have been busy bees lately working on our first big project, remodeling the black hole also known as our closet. So here's the thing, I moved in with Kris temporarily for three weeks back in September. It was great, except there was literally no room for any of my things, especially my clothes. When we started talking about living together recently, my first concern was making room for me and my stuff. That's how the remodeling, DIYing and making over of the house started. And consequently this blog was born to chronicle our journey. Want to see what's happening in our black hole?
I'm so excited to introduce my first series to you. I'm planning on posting my thrifty finds relatively regularly. I find most of my steals at local thrift stores, but occasionally I'll find things at garage sales as well. I hope to show you all what a little patience, dedication and rummaging can get you. Click that little "read more" button down there to see what thrifty thrills I've scored lately.
Ahhh! So here it is guys! You're about to step into a genu-ine bachelor pad. I'm not sure if you're ready for this. I'm not sure if I'm ready. But here it is in all it's glory.
But before I let you in, let me just tell you that I have a long, overwhelming road ahead of me. This is the bachelor pad to rival all other bachelor pads. It is pure dark, dated, dirty and decorationless man cave (yes I just made that up so that there would be another "d" word). Have I mentioned that three messy boys live here? And I agreed to move in!! Maybe I should have added that to the list of reasons why you should think I'm crazy. I'm stalling... Here we go. Come on in... I'm so excited to start this journey! But I may be a little crazy for doing this.
Reasons you should probably think I'm crazy: 1. I'm attempting to turn our messy house into an organized, beautiful home with character that we both can enjoy all while keeping the two roommates happy and avoiding adding to our debt. 2. I'm starting this blog knowing nothing about blogging, except that I love reading View Along the Way and Live Love DIY 3. I'm doing this while going to school, planning a wedding and working! EEEEK! I already have so many plans for the house! But first I'm going to take a million pictures of it in all it's bachelor pad glory. Stay tuned for the next post! |
